Muhwezi, Mbabazi clash again

Muhwezi, Mbabazi clash again

Risdel Kasasira & S. Naturinda

The war of words between Security Minister Amama Mbabazi and Rujumbura MP Jim Muhwezi yesterday turned nasty after the two former spy chiefs nearly manhandled each other on the floor of Parliament.

It started after Gen. Muhwezi gave a personal statement in which he accused Mr Mbabazi and Internal Affairs Minister Ruhakana Rugunda of hatching a plan to arrest him.

In the seven-page statement to fellow MPs, Gen. Muhwezi claimed Dr Rugunda and Mr Mbabazi had recommended to the Director of Public Prosecutions, Mr Richard Buteera, that he (Muhwezi) be charged with conspiracy to commit aggravated robbery.

“I am reliably informed that the security council meeting headed by the Honourable Rugunda, and attended by the minister of security have recommended the DPP and police to charge me with aggravated robbery and conspiracy tomorrow morning at 9:00am,” he said.

In response, Mr Mbabazi said, “When you see a military general getting panicky, then know that the ground cannot hold anymore.” Immediately, Gen. Muhwezi stood up and asked Deputy Speaker Rebecca Kadaga to rule Mr Mbabazi out of order.

“Is it in order Madam Speaker for Hon. Mbabazi to say I am in panic yet I am here to defend myself against injustice? I am not in panic. It’s you who has been panicking and moving around radios attacking us after the Temangalo scandal,” he said, causing laughter in the House.

Mr Mbabazi told Gen. Muhwezi to “take heart” and wait for the police to complete their investigations. “All I would wish to advise my brother (Muhwezi) is that when one is suspected to be involved in criminal activities, police investigates those who are suspected. If you are suspected, you will go and tell police what you know,” he told the House.

Police will today interrogate Gen. Muhwezi about the role played by his bodyguards in the failed robbery attempt at Stanbic Bank’s Garden City branch. The robbery was allegedly masterminded by city businessman Justus Kashoma, who reportedly met Gen. Muhwezi a day before incident.

Mr Kashoma, who is now the principal suspect, was with five others charged with aggravated robbery on Wednesday. They will re-appear in court on October 15. In his statement, Gen. Muhwezi claimed that Mr Kashoma had dinner with Mr Mbabazi at the minister’s residence two days before the attempted robbery, an allegation the security minister denied.

Gen. Muhwezi, who is a suspect principally because one of his guards was arrested at the scene, said, “Recently, a presidential guard was involved in a robbery. Is Rugunda waiting for the President’s term to end and try him or is he not trying him because of the (Presidential) immunity?”
First Lady Janet Museveni shook her head and looked down.

Dr Rugunda also denied the arrest claims, saying, “We have never had a meeting with Mbabazi concerning Muhwezi.” Gen. Muhwezi also attacked The New Vision, saying it is being run by Mbabazi’s henchmen “who are ready to spin to the world through the Internet after I have been arrested, how Muhwezi is a bank robber”

Mr Mbabazi replied, “I have no relative in New Vision. The paper is headed by a woman from Belgium. I have no Belgian relatives.” The situation tensed up after Rubanda East MP Henry Banyenzaki said “some of us who have openly talked about Temangalo land scandal have been threatened and need security”.

Deputy Speaker Kadaga told Prime Minster Apolo Nsibambi to assure MPs on their safety. Prof. Nsibambi ordered Rugunda to provide security to “threatened MPs”, but his order drew boos from MPs.

Gen. Muhwezi and Mr Mbabazi have been involved in a war of words after the former health minister led calls for the censure or dismissal of Mr Mbabazi for his role in the Temangalo-NSSF land saga.

hahaha.. Yeah Omugiya, i like ur comment.
Muhwezi should not fly out of his skin. Let him play it cool, he'll just ask the judge where he was when they were fighting and possibly remind him that he was either eating sausages like Justice Ogoola or hiding under his bed.
He should be as arrogant as he was when he scorned the Ogola commision.

ITS A SHAME FOR SUCH PUBLIC FIGURES TO BEHAVE LIKE THAT TO THE EXTENT OF EXCHANGING BLOWS IN PARLIAMENT. WHAT SORT OF IMAGE ARE THEY PORTRAYING TO THE PEOPLE THEY REPRESENT ESPECIALLY THE YOUNG GENERATION. THIS LOOKS TO BE A PERSONAL GRUDGE TRIGGERED OFF BY THE PREVAILING CIRCUMSTANCES. I DONT KNOW WHERE UGANDA IS HEADING. IT SHOULD BORROW SOME KNOWLEGDE FROM PEACEFUL COUNTRIES LIKE BOTSWANA WHERE SUCH NONSENCE CANNOT BE ENTERTAINED/TOLERATED. WE ARE IN TOTAL PEACE HERE DESPITE WHAT IS TAKING PLACE IN THE NEIGBOURING COUNTRY -ZIMBABWE.
WE NEED PRAYERS.
Omugiya Ngiya said at 03 Oct 2008, 12:48
There is absolutely no reason why Muhwezi should panic. Let the law take its course. As he told Justice Ogola some of us were eating sausages when he was busy fighting.

The poor guy is so scared of justice, he is almost running bananas. WHERE IS YOUR GUN COMRADE?

They say the truth shall set you free. Why are you despairing so early? Be a man man! Fighters don't wet their pants on hearing one gunshot.

Oh God, your word tells us not to judge others and I will not judge anybody. However, I kneel before you that your will be done! I have faith and belief that all will be well for Ugandans that are crying for your mercy on them. I have faith that you will always prevail forever and ever more! You are the Judge of all Judges, you are the Commander of Commanders, and above all you are the Creator of Heaven and Earth. May your will be done! Amen!

KUTA!
You know what, there is a wise saying amongst a prominent tribe in Uganda,'MA I CAMO KEDE IYI ATABO A CEL EN MANEKI!'meaning your potential killer is the one you share food with.

I think Muhwezi should find out were this tribe is for consultation and understanding of their wisdom.

This is total dramma.I wonder what is in the mind of our so beloved president.
These are guys he gave these jobs to reward them for what they did for him in campaigns and what ever. The banyakole have rewarded themselves and the country is suffering.Let two Mbabazi and Muhwezi resign for the good of the country. Especially if their countrymen or else their in Parliament for selfish ends. where are the respected people like Amanya Mushenga.,Kategaya. Iam losing also respect for Rugunda. The police is also full of Museveni's guys so how can they investegate their fellow comrades.

I’ve a dream:

I’ve a dream that Jim Muhwezi is “guilty” as suspected.

I’ve a dream that Kashoma shall “willingly” cooperate with government and become its witness against the “chief planner” of attempted robbery of Standbic Bank, just like a one Lt. Migadde did against Besigye in the treason charges.

I’ve a dream that the plot was to rob money in order to commit some terrorist activity and destroy the hard-won peace we are “enjoying”.

I’ve a dream that Muhwezi’s ISO bodyguard shall be helped to start some chicken farm somewhere before he testifies on how his boss was “coordinating” the entire robbery plan.

Yes I’ve a dream that Jim Muhwezi is as “guilty” as suspected.

And finally when I wake up I shall find out that mother revolution, a.k.a. NRM, is eating its own children … Besigye, Tumukunde, Muhwezi …. The list goes on and on.

Thanks WODGOT, i forgot something.
No.10. Kashoma... here is a man before his arrest, had last supper with Mbabazi the Mafiaman and guess what! Muhwezis' bodyguard is with him in the robbery. It is a circle friends, sitting at the dinning table and discussing a deal that is tending to go sour. It reminds me of the Mafia politics of Charles Njonjo(Kenyatta) and Biwott(Moi)in Kenya and Dick Cheney(Bush) in the USA. C'mmon guyz lets grow up!

Felix RUTA,
Spot on!
For those who are not aware, one of senior army officers from Uganda has been arrest by the British Government while in posession of a very dangerous chemical weapon and they are still keeping him in jail.
1.Was he sent by MUSEVENI?

2.If not why are they putting pressure on the law abiding Britain to release this man?

3.Were they going to use this chemical in fighting political opponents?

4.Are they intending to use such method in fighting Kony?

5.With this breach of international law, do you think Uganda under Museveni qualifies for a place in United Nation Security Council?

What is happening is just a drop in an ocean!! Those f***kers will never realise how much they have drained our nation.
Take Muhwezi foristance: He is arrogant and scandalous(remember his humourless comment to Princimple judge Ogola...I wonder where u were my Lord when we were fighting...) So, we owe them... they thnk mbuu, ehh!!
Just send the f***kers to hell!!!

It is just evidence of how dwiddled the Movement pass has become. It can nolonger contain descent, constructive ideas, they are there just to eat and take all they can lay their hands on.
Mbabazi, u still are our country's top deplomat, wat has happened to u dud? Have u gone bananas?
Well, keep on the fight, may be two or three supporters may leave ur party and help rebuild our country.

These two men are going to kill each other one of these days. The problem is they know each other too well, like a man knows his wife and vice versa. Honestly, the faster they both get out of the scene the better. Power really corrupts. Maybe NRM is coming to its natural end here! I'm just at the ring side waiting for the next round. Secounds away round 4 or is it 5? I'm just dazed!!!!

Its a pity that Ugandan are being taken for granted by the inept leadership of the status quo. Take a look at this food chain.
1. Hussein Kashilingi a legal adviser to the president is charged with bribery
2. Onegi Obel a former advisor dips his hands deep in the Nsimbe estate deal, he is implicated
3. Ofwono Opondo shoots and kills a human like him coz he thinks he will be robbed.
4.Ananias Tumukunde another of the presidential advisors is charged with bribery in the UK
5. Another close advisor to the president and former defense ministry big shot is suspected of drug trafficking
6. Kuteesa an in law to the president was censored as a minister he apologises to the president and is given a more juicier ministry as appeasement
7.Scandals involving junk copters, GAVI funds, UCB sale, 800 Ltrs of petrol, CHOGM, ROADS, GIFTED BY NATURE, Under sized army uniforms, NSSF, Tthe list goes on are investigated by no concrete actions taken to implicate those involved.
9. We have not yet heard of the scandals that will emanate from OIL cept for the lack of transparency in publicising deal details. I have said before should there be a scandal, it will be bloody and will expose all the rot from and be4 86.
8. Take a closer look at the the top cream, its more of a family business than government.
AS LONG AS UGANDANS ARE CORNERED INTO REMAINING POVERTY STRICKEN AND SINGING PRAISES FOR WHOEVER "RULES", WE SHALL NEVER BE LIBERATED FROM THE SO CALLED "REVOLUTIONARIES". A revolution is not about man eat man, but about social politics that benefit all
Robert Kuloba said at 03 Oct 2008, 05:45
Well we are very tired of this kind of behaviour amongst our so called leadership!! I think it is time we get a new government to lead us and a fresh party that never particiapited in this so called bush war story!! Let us hope that we can have a change form this Museveni led government come the near future!! He has started to show signs of stress and fatigue and seems to be liviing on borrowed time anyway.
Ugandans try and next time put in plac a better party to lead us. This NRM thing has tried to do what it could for us and has now completely lost rack of where and when and how it should dissolve itself officially.
I hope God can intervene to save us from these selfish and ugly scenes of extreme greed among hapless leaders.

what exactly is wrong with the ugandan police? after hearing numerous stories of how they are actualy henchmen of the state. its no wonder that they have concluded robbery or is it fraud investigations within a week. No wonder that they have put muhwezi directly in the middle of the robbery simply coz a car of his bodyguard was foud at garden city. one wonders hw many cars pack at garden cityand why all their owners at\re nt in luzira. its really no surprise at all tjat they have totally ignored kashoma who was withdrawing the money from his persoal account and concetrated on charging the sociable minister with rbery. thats what this newpaper said.
i can confidently say that after all thse scadals, i have come to a conclusion that NRM guys big guys like mbabazi have really eaten Ugandan's money. muhwezi is just unlucky to be used as the pawn by his govt as the only thief. definitely all those guys are eating. why do u think the president is soo quiet as long as e is not the one looking bad. muhwezi a nrmallly sociable guy wh is likeable is the slaughter goat of the NRM. All those who have eate are now soo quiet trying to hide their own corruptin and deals that thy have enjoyed for a long tie and are also now pointing fingers!. officially the NRM has turned into a laughable party, with m7 chief thief occasionally pushing a few weak en t pay while his hand stays in the cake. hopeless! just hopeless!

The NRM government is surfering from a power hangover. This is what happens in a country were their now term limits. When one of the generals is asked why he behaves in a very inhuman way, the answer is always the same; i fought, indeed you fought now its our turn to fight to bring sanity in our country. It is a great oportunity for Ugandans, a one time accused has come out to fight corrupt tendencies, people like Salim Sally, Tumukunde etc should follow the same example. MBABAZI, there is a door still open, plead guilty as advised before and join the fight against abuse of office. As a christain i believe you know the power of repentance, Through acceptance of our mistakes, like Jamwa has done we shall be able to redeem our country. All ugandans should give credit to jamwa before criticising him, revealing the truth is what we need and in fact such a person should be given a lesser punishment. hard cores like Suruma, Mbabazi should be handled with an iron hand, if found guilty for wasting the committes time and states money. IT IS OUR RESPONSIBILITY TO BUILD UGANDA TO GREAT HEIGHTS. Thanks go to all people doing every thing possible for Uganda to mentain its status as pearl of Africa.

Their is this famous saying in my tribe, {omukazi yaza kwiba a hekire omwana, omwana ogu naba omushuma} in brief this means that, a child we always adopt habits of their parents. The corruption tendencies we have in this country shall stay with us as long as the so called feedom fighters are still with us, most especially the one with a vision. mbabazi, have you ever taken time to know what your name means? have mercy on the people whose savings you are sharing. At times i ask myself, whether a Ugandan citizen can be this evile to his own country. Donors have not given up, they continue to send surport for Ugandans, unfortunately, its own children steal what is meant to better the lives of the brothers and sisters. Ugandans you may want to Keep an eye on the hatching scheme to control the flow of information in Uganda.
The biggest threat to the control of information by Governement was the state owned Newvision, hence constant irritation by HE. and the thorn was William Pike and Conrad Nkutu.these had to be eliminated, It was easy to get rid on Nkutu through the flimsy excuse of using company emails for private use. That is when Kabushenga formerly Mukholi Moves into Nkutu's position, As Government tries to get rid of Pike, up Pops some sturbon BBC reporter called Will Ross, who with Nkutu now at Monitor continue the iritating Government. to deal with this development, Media Centre under the Presidents office is formed, now all information has to flow through this Centre, and journalists and Media houses have to be vetted by this organisation, Yes you guessed right Mr Kabushenga runs the Show, and as expected Mr Ross is denied a permit and hence leaves the country, we are now left with Nkutu and Pike. Pike at Newvision is deposed in bloodless coup and Banggg Kabushenga takes over and Vision and the Agha khan bows to pressure and Promotes Nkutu to the Board and in the process is moved out of the Country. Kabushenga is now steaming full spead with dominated the flow of information in Uganda, expanding into TV and Radio. However there is a sector that leaks information to the outside world that the Government doesn't control..yeas the INTERNET. This is irritating HE the President, so what do we do? Which Country in the World is known to have successfuly policed the internet...of course CHINA. Recently MR KABUSHENGA of NewVision headed a deligation to China, other Deligates were FRED OPOLOT of Media Centre and OFWONO OPONDO.
soon we may not be able to read the electronic version of MONITOR
